For a richer flavor, use homemade chicken stock. Adjust the amount of curry paste to control the spiciness. Start with 1/2 teaspoon and add more to taste. If you don't have kidney beans, cannellini beans or chickpeas work well as substitutes. Make sure not to overcook the shrimp, as they will become rubbery. They are done when they turn pink and opaque.
