For an extra layer of flavor, try adding a sprinkle of poppy seeds to the dressing.
Feel free to substitute other fruits based on seasonal availability and personal preference. Raspberries, blackberries, or even diced mango would be excellent additions.
To toast the almonds, spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes, or until lightly golden and fragrant. Watch carefully to prevent burning!
Make the dressing ahead of time and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. This will allow the flavors to meld together even further.
If you're preparing the salad in advance, dress it just before serving to prevent the lettuce from becoming soggy.
