In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, turmeric, baking powder, and anise seed powder. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Add oil and melted butter to the well, then gradually incorporate the sweetened anise-flavored water, mixing until the batter reaches the consistency of thick yogurt. (10 minutes)

Pour batter into the prepared baking pan. Using the tip of a knife, gently score the top of the batter into diamond shapes. Place 1 pine nut in the center of each diamond. (5 minutes)

Bake in the preheated oven until the top is lightly golden brown, approximately 30 minutes. Let it cool down for 10 minutes before serving.

For a richer flavor, lightly toast the pine nuts before placing them on the cake.
