Follow The Directions

01

Step

Prepare the Steaks: Place steaks in a flat baking dish or container. (5 minutes) Cut slits at 1-inch intervals in the fat around the edges of the steaks. Gently pierce both sides of each steak a few times with a fork to help the marinade penetrate.

02

Step

Season the Steaks: Sprinkle each steak with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Montreal steak seasoning. (2 minutes) Pat the seasonings into the steaks to ensure even distribution.

03

Step

Make the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together the olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, chopped garlic, and liquid smoke until well combined. (3 minutes)

04

Step

Marinate the Steaks: Pour the marinade over the steaks, ensuring they are thoroughly coated. (1 minute) Cover the container or baking dish with plastic wrap and marinate the steaks in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or preferably up to 4 hours. Turn the steaks over halfway through the marinating time to ensure even flavor infusion.

05

Step

Prepare the Grill: Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate to prevent sticking. (10 minutes)

06

Step

Grill the Steaks: Cook the steaks on the preheated grill until they start to firm and are reddish-pink and juicy in the center. (8-10 minutes per side for medium-rare) For medium-rare, an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 130 degrees F (54 degrees C). Adjust cooking time based on your desired level of doneness.

For best results, use high-quality steaks with good marbling. The fat will render during cooking, adding flavor and tenderness.
Don't over-marinate the steaks, as the acid in the marinade can break down the proteins and make them mushy. 2-4 hours is ideal.
Let the steaks rest for 5-10 minutes after grilling before slicing against the grain and serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and flavorful steak.
Adjust the seasonings to your preference. If you like a spicier marinade, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
