Follow The Directions

01

Step

Finely chop the onion and garlic by pulsing them in a food processor. Add 1 can of rinsed and drained black beans, egg, cilantro, parsley, red pepper flakes, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Pulse again to combine into a coarse mixture. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Transfer the black bean mixture to a large mixing bowl. Add the remaining rinsed and drained black beans and bread crumbs. Season generously with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined. If the mixture appears too wet, add bread crumbs, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is achieved. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and form them into patties, ensuring they are compact and hold their shape. (10 minutes)

04

Step

Heat olive oil in a large grill pan or skillet over medium-low heat. Gently place the patties onto the hot pan and cook for approximately 6 minutes per side, or until heated through and slightly browned. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary. (12 minutes)

For a smoky flavor, add a dash of smoked paprika to the mixture.
Experiment with different beans, such as kidney beans or pinto beans, for a variation in flavor and texture.
Serve on toasted brioche buns with avocado, sprouts, and a spicy mayo for a gourmet experience.
These burgers can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before cooking.
