Follow The Directions

01

Step

Prepare the Instant Pot: Pour 1 cup of cold water into the Instant Pot. Place a trivet or egg rack inside. Gently arrange the eggs on the trivet. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Pressure Cook the Eggs: Close and lock the lid of the Instant Pot. Ensure the pressure valve is set to 'Sealing'. Select 'High Pressure' and set the timer for 3 minutes. Allow 5-10 minutes for the Instant Pot to reach full pressure. (5-10 minutes)

03

Step

Quick Release: Once the timer goes off, carefully cover the pressure release valve with a kitchen towel. Using a wooden spoon or tongs, move the valve from 'Sealing' to 'Venting' to perform a quick pressure release. (2 minutes)

04

Step

Ice Bath: Once the pressure is fully released and the pin drops, unlock and remove the lid. Immediately transfer the eggs to a bowl filled with ice water. Let them sit for 2 minutes to stop the cooking process. (2 minutes)

05

Step

Prepare the Soldiers: While the eggs are cooling, toast the bread to your desired level of crispness. Spread each slice generously with softened butter. Cut the toast into strips ('soldiers'). (3 minutes)

06

Step

Assemble and Serve: Gently drain the eggs. Using a spoon, lightly tap the top of each egg to create a crack around the upper shell. Carefully remove the top portion of the shell. Season the eggs with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Serve immediately with the buttered toast soldiers for dipping.

For perfectly runny yolks, stick to the 3-minute cooking time. If you prefer your yolks slightly more set, add an extra minute to the cooking time.
Using high-quality bread and butter will significantly enhance the flavor of your soldiers.
Experiment with different seasonings for your eggs, such as a pinch of smoked paprika or a sprinkle of fresh herbs.
For easier peeling, try adding a teaspoon of vinegar to the ice water bath.
