Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large soup pot over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until cooked and crumbly; drain and set aside. (Approximately 10 minutes)

02

Step

Brown sausages, then set aside. (Approximately 5 minutes)

03

Step

Reduce heat to medium and stir in bacon. Cook until the bacon has released its fat and is beginning to turn crispy. (Approximately 8 minutes)

04

Step

Stir in garlic and onions, and cook until the onions soften and turn translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in tomato paste to coat the onions.

05

Step

Pour in beef broth, diced tomatoes, chili beans, and pinto beans. Add the Anaheim peppers, jalapeno peppers, and serrano peppers. Season with Worcestershire, brown sugar, chipotle powder, and cumin.

06

Step

Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 2 hours, or until thickened, stirring occasionally.

07

Step

Season to taste with salt and pepper, then simmer for 5 additional minutes before serving.

For an even deeper flavor, consider browning the ground beef and sausage in a cast iron skillet before adding them to the soup pot.
Adjust the amount of minced chiles according to your spice preference. Remember that the heat will intensify as the chili simmers.
If you don't have pinto beans on hand, kidney beans or black beans can be substituted. The key is to ensure they are well-drained to prevent a watery chili.
Consider topping with some fresh cilantro for a more vibrant taste.
