Toast the pecans lightly in a dry skillet or oven to bring out their nutty flavor before adding them to the icing. For a richer flavor, use dark brown sugar instead of light brown sugar. If the icing becomes too thick, add a tablespoon of milk at a time until desired consistency is reached. Walnuts can be substituted for pecans if desired. However, the pecans provide a more traditional taste.
