For a richer flavor, use homemade chicken stock instead of canned broth. If you can't find chayote squash, green papaya makes an excellent substitute. Adjust the amount of fish sauce to your preference. Start with 1 tablespoon and add more to taste. Feel free to add other vegetables such as potatoes or green beans to the soup. A squeeze of fresh lemon or calamansi juice can brighten the flavors of the Tinola before serving.
